Richard Pearce
Co-Founder
As Co-Founder of Verto Homes, Richard has played a pivotal role in shaping the company’s success, focusing on land acquisition, planning, and legal strategy. With over two decades in the property industry, he has a sharp eye for securing prime development sites and navigating the complex legal frameworks that come with building the UK’s most sustainable homes.
Richard’s expertise lies in identifying opportunities, structuring deals, and ensuring every Verto development is positioned for long-term success. His meticulous approach has been instrumental in transforming ambitious concepts into thriving zero-carbon communities.
Outside of work, Richard enjoys spending time with his wife, Jodie, and their two dachshunds.
Tom Carr
Co-Founder
With over 20 years in the UK property industry, Tom, Richard, and the team at Verto are redefining how we design, build, and experience sustainable homes. Tom’s vision is clear: to create homes that don’t just reduce carbon emissions but eliminate them entirely, proving that sustainability and high-end living can go hand in hand.
As Verto’s creative lead, Tom heads the design team, ensuring every Zero Carbon Smart Home™ is not only carbon-free but also beautiful, functional, and effortless to live in. His passion for how we interact with space drives Verto’s mission to make sustainable living seamless and intuitive.
When he’s not shaping the future of housing, Tom is surfing, discovering new music, or exploring the outdoors with his girlfriend, Dani, and their Cocker Spaniel.
David McManus
Construction Director
David, a seasoned construction professional with 20 years of experience, holds a senior leadership role. With a robust background in diverse construction projects, David prioritises professionalism, customer service, and takes a proactive approach. David boasts a proven track record in completing major projects on time and within budget, spanning both residential and commercial sectors.
Adept in project programming and coordination, client collaboration and quality control, David emphasizes safety standards as paramount. David’s strong commercial acumen assists financial monitoring and KPI reporting. Notably, David's former roles include Construction & Safety Director at Kier for the South West, Construction Manager for ministries of Saudi Arabia managing projects worth £3.5 billion, and an 8-year tenure with Balfour Beatty.Joshua Carr
Group Financial Accountant
Joshua is a Chartered Accountant with the Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales, as well as a qualified Auditor and certified Business Finance Professional.
With a decade of experience in accounting, tax, and audit, he specialises in construction and manufacturing finance.
Before joining Verto, Joshua spent six years in general practice, leading financial services for small, medium, and large businesses. At Verto, he has been instrumental in developing robust financial systems and securing over £100 million in funding, ensuring the company’s continued growth in zero-carbon housebuilding.
When Josh’s head isn’t in a spreadsheet, he’s out exploring the world with his girlfriend Amy, hitting the gym, or getting inspired by the latest Grand Designs project.Luke Andrews
Group Procurement Director
With extensive experience in procurement and operations, Luke ensures Verto’s supply chains run efficiently, vendor relationships remain strong, and costs are effectively managed.
Previously, as Director of Operations at a builders’ merchants, he led large-scale projects, streamlined processes, and drove key operational improvements. His expertise in logistics and resource management plays a crucial role in delivering Verto’s Zero Carbon Smart Homes™ to the highest standards.
Outside of work, Luke enjoys travelling, coastal walks, fitness, and tackling home improvement projects.
Hayley Underwood
Group HR Manager and Procurement Assistant
With over 10 years of administration experience in construction, Hayley joined Verto in 2014 as Office Manager. As the company grew, so did her role—expanding into HR and business operations.
Dedicated to professional development, she has since earned CIPD Level 5 and ILM Level 5 qualifications, bringing valuable expertise in people management and organisational strategy. Her ability to streamline processes, support teams, and foster a strong workplace culture makes her an integral part of Verto’s success.
Outside of work, Hayley enjoys horse riding, coastal walks with her dog Reggie, and spending quality time with family.
Tom Porter
Head of Development
Tom joined Verto in 2017 after eight years at Galliford Try, where he played a key role in delivering major renewable energy and residential projects. With a deep understanding of land acquisition, site development, and planning, he ensures that every Verto project is positioned for success from the outset.
His expertise in navigating complex planning processes and securing strategic land opportunities is vital in driving the company’s vision for sustainable living.
Outside of work, Tom enjoys spending time with his two children, reading, and exploring the Cornish countryside.
Errol McKinon
Head of Technical
A qualified architectural technologist with over 30 years of experience, Errol has led the design and delivery of complex residential, commercial, and historic projects. His expertise spans technical design, construction innovation, and sustainable architecture, making him a key figure in shaping Verto’s Zero Carbon Smart Homes™.
Passionate about pushing boundaries, he is constantly exploring new materials, technologies, and design solutions that set new standards for sustainable living.
Outside of work, Errol enjoys exploring the outdoors across the South West.
Ben Cooper
Technical Manager
Ben Cooper has delivered major infrastructure projects in Australia, high-end developments in London, and residential schemes across Devon and Cornwall.
His expertise in design coordination, project execution, and commercial strategy ensures every development is efficient, high-quality, and sustainable. At Verto, he plays a key role in driving zero-carbon innovation and delivering homes built for the future.
Cris Neale
Group Commercial Manager
With over 30 years in residential development, Cris has led commercial and technical teams delivering everything from luxury homes to large affordable housing projects.
Previously with Westbury Homes, Prowting Homes, and Barratt Homes, he brings extensive expertise in surveying and project leadership.
Hobbies: Exploring Dartmoor, attending motorsport events, concerts, and keeping fit with cycling and gym workouts.
Leanne Wilkins
Senior Quantity Surveyor
With over 20 years in construction, Leanne is an expert in project costing, managing budgets from conception to completion to ensure every build meets high-quality standards.
Her attention to detail and strategic approach help drive efficiency across Verto’s developments. Committed to teamwork and integrity, she thrives in collaborative environments, ensuring smooth project delivery while maintaining Verto’s commitment to sustainability.
Outside of work, Leanne enjoys travelling, exploring new places, and cheering on her football-loving sons.
Mike Upton
Group Estimator
With nearly 40 years in construction, Mike has built a wealth of experience across both developers and contractors, progressing from surveyor to Commercial Director and now Estimator.
His deep understanding of cost management, procurement, and project delivery ensures that every Verto development is commercially robust and built to the highest standards. Passionate about mentoring, he enjoys sharing his expertise and guiding the next generation of construction professionals.
Outside of work, Mike enjoys mountain biking, brewing, skiing, and tackling DIY projects.
Ben Hall
Management Accountant
With over 25 years of experience as a Management Accountant, primarily in the private sector, Ben has helped businesses focus on financial planning, analysis, and strategic decision-making.
Outside of Verto, Ben is a dedicated sports enthusiast with a passion for coaching youth football, taking great pride in inspiring and supporting the personal development of young athletes. In his spare time, he enjoys exploring Cornwall’s stunning coastal scenery on long walks.
Laura Hawken
Accounts Assistant
Laura oversees Verto’s financial processes with precision, ensuring seamless operations across the business. Since joining Verto, she has gained Accountancy qualifications and AAT Membership, strengthening her expertise.
Previously, she managed financial transactions at a local solicitor firm, developing a strong foundation in financial reporting and compliance.
Outside of work, Laura enjoys socializing, catching up with friends, and exploring the coastline with her dogs.
Jodie Greatorex
Executive Assistant
Jodie plays a vital role in assisting the sales and investor relations teams, ensuring smooth operations and top-tier support across departments.
With a strong background in organisation and client coordination, she helps streamline processes, enhance communication, and keep things running efficiently. Her attention to detail and proactive approach make her an integral part of Verto’s commitment to delivering exceptional service.
James Rogerson
Project Manager
With 28 years in the industry, James has managed large-scale developments, winning NHBC Pride in the Job awards. He currently leads Verto’s most challenging project to date.
Hobbies: Fishing, game shooting, and boating.
Krzystof Dryl
Assistant Site Manager
Since joining Verto in 2015, Krzystof has progressed from labourer to Customer Care Manager, bringing hands-on expertise in construction. With a background in window fitting, tiling, and dry lining in Poland, he brings a versatile skill set to the team.
Nathan Drysdale
Site Manager
Originally from New Zealand, Nathan moved to the UK in 1997, starting in construction while playing rugby and traveling Europe. With experience on large commercial sites and six years at Taylor Wimpey, he joined Verto in 2018. He takes pride in delivering high-quality homes and managing site operations efficiently.
Harriet Down
Customer Care Coordinator
With 11 years at Barratt David Wilson Homes, Harriet brings a wealth of experience in customer service and subcontractor management to her role at Verto.
As Customer Care Coordinator, she ensures defects are resolved swiftly and efficiently, delivering the highest standard of aftercare. Outside of work, she enjoys paddleboarding, kayaking, and exploring the outdoors with her family.
Jonathan Waller
Filmmaker and Content Creator
Jonathan Waller is a filmmaker and content creator. Jonathan has worked as a freelance film maker for years, working in the music industry and commercial world.
Outside of filmmaking, he plays tennis regularly and enjoys taking his camera with him whilst exploring the beautiful landscapes of the South West.
Kane Rich
Marketing Manager
With six years of marketing experience, Kane has worked with McCarthy Stone, Dyson, and Convatec, bringing a wealth of expertise to Verto’s marketing team.
Passionate about sustainability and brand growth, he combines his creativity with a love for music, photography, and design to craft impactful campaigns that showcase Verto’s vision. When he’s not shaping brand stories, you’ll find him surfing, DJing, and capturing moments behind the lens.
