Despite record competition, sustainable house-builder Verto Homes has won two awards at the National Federation of Builders Awards 2018: House Builder of the Year and New Build Project of the Year for their flagship development in Newquay, Island Reach.

Winners were announced at a prestigious awards ceremony at The Belfry Hotel & Resort, Sutton Coldfield, on Tuesday, 27 March 2018. As creators of the first Zero Carbon Smart Homes in the UK, Verto Homes is unique in its sustainability credentials among the nominees – making their double win all the more significant.
The judges passed comment on Verto’s House Builder of the Year win, the most coveted title at the awards:
Verto’s entry forced its way to the top by its total design concept, management ethos and achievement of different and high objectives. What made this entry stand out was the company’s emphasis on sustainability and the method through which it was delivered.”
The Judges had similar feedback for Island Reach, the development which won them the New Build Project of the Year Award: “Island Reach has been a huge success and clearly demonstrates Verto’s commitment to building high quality, sustainable, homes which can be enjoyed for years to come.”
Verto Homes Co-founders Tom Carr and Richard Pearce say they are delighted with the results and the wider recognition for sustainable housebuilding.

“We are thrilled and grateful to be recognised by the NFB for our hard work. These awards mean much to us as a company but also for the whole sustainable property industry, which we are proud to represent. Perspectives are shifting and we couldn’t be more excited for the future.”
Cornwall-based Verto Homes was founded in 2010 and designs, builds and sells intelligent, sustainable, Zero Carbon Smart Homes which produce and use their own renewable energy. These homes are also fully automated and can be controlled from a purpose-designed smartphone app.
Verto Homes has an ambition to become the UK’s largest builder of sustainable homes by 2021. Having completed multiple developments in the South West, it currently has 63 units under construction and a further 750 in the pipeline, including sites in Truro, Padstow, Rock, Plymouth and Exeter. It is also working with a number of Housing Associations to develop a product for the affordable housing sector.
Prior to these awards, Verto Homes has won the Eco Award at the National Federation of Builders Awards 2016, Best Residential Development Award and Best Developer Website Award at the 2017 UK Property Awards, and was crowned ‘Overall Winner’ at the Cornwall Sustainability Awards 2015.
